The fine art of Linocut

Each piece begins with time spent observing and sketching from nature - fallen leaves, tangled roots, unfolding petals. From these drawings, I carve the image into a block of linoleum using fine tools, cutting away the areas that will remain white on the final print. Ink is then rolled onto the surface, and each print is pressed by hand, one at a time.

This slow, mindful process means that no two prints are ever quite the same. Every impression carries subtle variations, traces of the carving and the hand that made it, a quiet celebration of the handmade.

I use traditional artists lino, which is made from all natural materials, including linseed oil, jute, cork dust, wood flour and pine rosin. I print using professional oil based inks which are non-toxic and clean up without the use of harmful solvents.
